How to use decorative glass in indoor spaces

Tuesday 11th August, 2020

Decorative glass provides an excellent option for customising your commercial space. Through the use of creative pattern, colour and even branding, plain glass products can be turned into bespoke glass that will liven up your building and complement its surroundings.

There are two main options when it comes to decorative glass; painted glass and frosted glass. Here we explain how these can be used to stunning effect in a variety of ways.

Painted Glass
Painted glass is colour-backed non-toughened and toughened glass, with a range of options. Thanks to its high-quality coating on the back, painted glass looks sleek and modern, offering countless design opportunities.

It is also highly durable, making it practical as well as aesthetically pleasing. At Peterlee Glass, we have installed decorative glass in many different commercial and architectural settings, as it really does serve to enhance any interior space where a contemporary yet pragmatic solution is required.

We are pleased to also offer a range of Lacobel T painted glass - the first painted glass range that can be immediately cut and toughened. This is safe, strong and highly resistant to heat, thermal shock and UV - plus it is available in 15 colours. The many applications for painted glass include office furniture, wall coverings, spandrels and facade cladding for shop fronts. If you are looking for a bespoke design for your interior glass elements, painted glass is a simple, stylish and cost-effective solution, contact us for a bespoke quote.

Frosted Glass
Another way to use decorative glass is through frosted glass, which allows for a creative image to be etched onto the glass and can make a real statement. Produced by either sandblasting or acid etching, the result is that the transparent glass has a frosted effect across the entire piece, or in a pattern or image, that is translucent.

Frosted glass is a good option for providing privacy in office environments, as its translucent nature means the scattering of light blurs images - crucially, while still transmitting light.
